I will make the toilets and shower spaces unisex to save space.
Facilities in a bathhouse include individual washing areas, shared bath(s), sinks, spas, saunas, lockers to put belongings in, showers, toilets. I thought about including a sauna in my first draft but I couldn’t compromise with the amount of space in my second draft, so there is no sauna in my second draft.
This is my first draft of my bathhouse model. Here, I was trying to incorporate aspects of curved walls and surfaces in my design, as inspired by the Marhon Ryokan bath house with a curved slab in the building and the Onagawa Station public bath’s curved roof. I really like the way my first draft has turned out, but one thing I have to consider is that with curved spaces I realised that a lot of space goes unused and wasted.
This is my second draft model of my bathhouse. As seen here, that I’ve changed most aspects of it. I decided that I will only design curved bathing areas in my bathhouse, rather than the entire space. I have decided to make the toilets, lockers, changing rooms and showers with straight walls. I have left the bathing space in the middle of the site, with a wall separating the entrance area from the bathing area and another wall separating the toilets area from the bathing area.
