Mirrors
I decided to extend the false wall inside the gallery to make a corridor for people to walk though it to the other side of the gallery which will be dark since it has no windows and will have minimal lighting. The experience I wanted to create here was people walking from a space with light into darkness though the corridor with mirrors to show what it’s like to fall asleep. As you walk though the corridor you will see one of the walls covered in a large mirror showing a smooth transition from light to dark, therefore falling asleep peacefully. On the other side you will see deconstructed mirrors showing disturbances as you walk though from light to dark, therefore not being able to sleep well. The whole idea of mirrors is to show self reflection and your own thoughts in your sleep. A similar experience is there as people walk back from dark into light (waking up).
